Climbing has been limited!

⚠️ "Rock climbing in the Korouoma is restricted to the cliffs at the western end of the canyon. (Ice climbing is allowed at all waterfalls in the area.)"

⚠️ 📅 "Getting around in the Pirunkirkko area should be avoided from May 1st to July 31st (1.5.–31.7.) to prevent disturbance to the endangered species present in the area." = Season starts in August.

🚗 From Rovaniemi 1h 20min (100km) drive to 🅿️ Koivuköngäs Parking lot, address: Kurtankaltiontie 195, Pernu. Coming from Rovaniemi on the main road (Rovaniementie) you will see on right hand side bigger parking lot with "Posio" information boards. Just after that turn right to Kurtankaltiontie and drive some kilometers until the Koivuköngäs parking lot.

🥾 35min/4km easy hike on mild downhill and flat easy path from Koivuköngäs Parking Lot to Pirunkirkko lean-to shelter.
🥾 Another 5-15 minutes to sectors: Find a way over/across river Korojoki - no proper bridge at the moment, but diy rope in place (updated 8.2026). Head towards cliff and soon you will see Veitsileikkaus sector – cannot miss it. Pirunkirkko sector is on left of it - Sikari/Taivas sector on right of it. Rosvosektori on a bit further on right.
