Vason is a small and fresh crag located at the foot of the Vason village, on Monte Bondone. Vason counts 17 routes spread across two mainly vertical sectors, with grades spanning from 3 to 7a+. The rock is a good grey limestone featuring cracks, large steps, and slabs. While it might look fragile at first glance, the rock is actually solid.
This is a crag with many easy grades, making it highly suitable for families and intermediate climbers. However, do not underestimate the ratings. Some routes are definitely sandbagged, so it is best to test the waters first on grades a bit below your limit and then gradually increase the difficulty. The routes are well bolted, ensuring a safe climbing experience.
The area is located at 1600 MSL and the walls receive sun during the afternoon. Vason is optimal for Summer climbing.
The base of the crag is very comfortable and offers some other facilities, such as benches, a short hiking trail and a Tibetan bridge.
If you want to take a break from climbing, Monte Bondone is a fantastic outdoor playground. You can explore a vast network of hiking and mountain biking trails or visit the beautiful Alpine Botanical Garden at Le Viote. For a touch of culture, the city of Trento is just a short drive down the mountain, where you can visit the renowned MUSE (Science Museum), explore the Buonconsiglio Castle, and enjoy excellent local food and wine in the historic center.

Vason è una piccola e fresca falesia situata ai piedi del paese di Vason, sul Monte Bondone.
La falesia conta 17 vie distribuite su due settori principalmente verticali, con gradi che spaziano dal 3 al 7a+. La roccia è un buon calcare grigio caratterizzato da fessure, gradoni e placche. Sebbene possa sembrare fragile a una prima occhiata, in realtà non lo è affatto.
È una falesia con molti gradi facili, particolarmente adatta alle famiglie e agli arrampicatori intermedi. Fate attenzione, però, a non sottovalutare la gradazione. Alcune vie sono decisamente sotto gradate, quindi vi consigliamo di testare prima il terreno su gradi un po’ più bassi del vostro limite per poi aumentare piano piano. Le vie sono ben chiodate e sicure.
L’area si trova a 1600 metri di quota e la parete prende il sole nel pomeriggio. Vason è ottima per l’arrampicata estiva.
La base offre anche altre comode strutture, tra cui panche per picnic, un breve sentiero escursionistico e un ponte tibetano perfetti per i più piccoli.
Nei giorni di riposo, il Monte Bondone offre tantissime alternative per chi ama la natura. Potete godervi splendide escursioni a piedi o in mountain bike, oppure visitare il suggestivo Giardino Botanico Alpino delle Viote. Se preferite una giornata all'insegna della cultura, la città di Trento è facilmente raggiungibile: non perdetevi una visita al MUSE (Museo delle Scienze), al Castello del Buonconsiglio e concedetevi un assaggio della rinomata enogastronomia locale nel centro storico.
