Description

🌲"Steinan i Dalselv" is a bouldering crag in a beautiful and mythical forest in Dalselv. However, deep in the forest also means that the rocks dry slowly. A brush will be a good friend to bring with as the forest lays its marks over time.

🍂 The best time to climb here is autumn. In the summer, you will naturally meet plenty of mosquitoes and insects eager to join your session. Spring can be good, depending on the snow conditions.

🪨There are some boulders that should be mentioned:

Strykejernet – Amazing shape sticking out in the forest, as if it wants to be climbed.

Yr – A overhang boulder with cool moves and a spicy top. Waiting for its sit-start first ascent.

Hula – Can you find the correct beta for Balansekunst?

Hedning – An enormous overhanging wall that dries quickly. Lines finishes on a top hold, tho many pads are recommended here!

History

🧗The boulders in Dalselv were first documented by Sten Stenkjær. There is an old PDF document featuring a cryptic hand-drawn map showing this early development.

🧹Stian Arntsen, Ole Hjerpakk, and Per Martin Hall added a handful of new and newly restored boulders to the crag in 2020–2021. They brought gardening tools, such as shovels, stiff brooms, and wire brushes, to bring life to the boulders. The traveler Moritz Backofen discovered the yr-boulder and probably rediscovered the big overhanging wall, giving it the name Hedning.

⛏️Hedning had a messy landing zone, but Per Martin Hall and Even Sagvik brought a heavy-duty pry bar to improve it in 2024. Hedning got its first line as known established in October 2026.
