Description

The Solvalla cliff is located beside the road to the national park of Nuuksio. The place is very popular due to easy access and the grade range being suitable for most climbers.

The cliff faces South-West and has a very open front so it dries incredibly quickly after rain. It can also get quite hot during sunny summer days. The rock is coarse, finger tearing granite. Be aware that despite the fact that most routes are bolted, some routes miss anchors. Fixing of a top rope or belaying point to a tree is the only option in some cases.

History

Solvalla is one the oldest crags in the capital region. There has been climbing activity since the eighties.

Most of the routes date back to the times of Persian Gulf War between Iraqi Army and the USA in the early 1990's. Thus, the naming of the most difficult routes.

Access is sensitive!

‼️ 💩 🧻
The land on the South side (below), the road is private property. Don't go there, definitely not to defecate. If you do your business anywhere, remember to dig a hole (>30cm) and carry your toilet paper home.

🅟 🚗
Use the parking lay-by's beside the road in front of the cliff. Cars should be parked strictly on the lay-by, no overlapping to the road. In case the lay-by is full, use the parking area of the Solvalla institute further along the same road.
