Description

Lees Bottom is a fairly new, small crag and easily my personal favourite limestone venue in the Peak. It has a distinctive wavy roof, steepest through the centre and gradually easing off towards the outer edges. Despite being only a five-minute walk from the road, it still feels peaceful and secluded, with no real sense of nearby disturbance.

The main climbing is found through the central roof, where there are some excellent lines on positive crimps. The left-hand side offers the ratty crimps so typical of Peak limestone, while the right-hand side provides a nice little warm-up section., while the right-hand side provides a nice little warm-up section.

Facing roughly north-east, the crag gets very little direct sun, making it a perfect spring and summer venue. It’s also usually dry from April onwards.

History

This is a relatively new crag, with much of the development taking place during the 2010s, due in large part to the efforts of Jon Fullwood, who has been responsible for establishing many of the newer routes in the peaks.
