Two minutes north of Stangebleau lies Krøllesteinen (the boulder is seen from the main road), an iconic boulder offering a variety of high-quality problems. Many of the boulders in this sector are relatively tall, so bringing enough crash pads is strongly recommended. The sector is split on both sides of the Kolomoen road. The boulders close to Krøllesteinen are near the parking area and can be reached within a short walk. In contrast, the boulders on the opposite side of the road (also called Stangekull northern part) are further away and the access is more challenging.
The history of bouldering in the Stange area is relatively recent, with development beginning in 2006. The first boulder problem established in the region was Krøllesteinen, which marked the start of what would later become one of the most important bouldering destinations in Innlandet.
Today, Stangebleau is the best-known and most frequently visited area, offering more than 200 boulder problems on high-quality rock. Its compact layout, easy access, and wide range of grades have made it a favourite destination for both local climbers and visitors from across Norway.
In addition to Stangebleau, several other smaller bouldering areas can be found within a 5–20 minute drive. Among the most notable are Den magiske skogen, one of the larger sectors only 3 minutes from Stangebleau, as well as Sothaugen/Vallset hill and Hueco Tangen. Together, these areas create a diverse bouldering destination with plenty of possibilities for exploration and new ascents.
