Description

For those living in Harstad, Inner-Aun is definitely worth a visit - especially on sunny early summer evenings when the light over Andfjorden is beautifully serene.

The boulders are close to houses and there is limited parking options, so please keep a low profile. Just remember to bring your brushes, as the area is still quite mossy due to its northern aspect below the mountain and limited traffic.

The rock (very coarse-grained granite) is sharp and skin intensive. Most boulders are relatively small, with the exception of Drageslottet. Landings are generally good to very good. The boulders lower on the hill have fantastic views across the fjord.

The HA EN FIN DAG and BØLGEN boulders are always a nice spot to warm up. Finding your way higher up the hill can be challenging due to the denser forest.

History

Little known organized climbing before 2020 when development started by Dominique Similox-Tohon and Anders Lagerström.

Access is sensitive!

By car 🚗
Drive over Aunfjellet and turn right towards the little village of Inner-Aun and the road's end.

🅿️ Parking along the road, and in the inner pocket at the road's end. But be aware that busses use this as a turning point, very important that climbers do not block the access!

By foot 👣
The approach by foot is very short from the road's end, and the closest boulders are just 100m away. Cross the fence (keep closed) and follow the stone fence uphill to the first boulders. Sheep are grazing, be considerate.
