Popularly known as "Cerezos (Cherry trees)" and located in a comfortable and quiet place at the gates of the Tárbena ravine, Garx crag has quickly become one of the favorite places of the Marina Baja to climb during the colder months of winter. The great versatility of its main wall, along with its excellent footpath, are two of the main attractions that have made this area a favorite destination for climbing families, children included, and groups of climbers with very different levels. This is possible thanks to the great versatility of this sector, which brings together excellent fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade routes on the same wall, sharing a common belaying spot. In its central slabby part, we will find the easiest routes, in the fifth and lower part of the sixth grade, reaching almost 40 meters high. Just to the right, the wall becomes vertical and a bit overhung, offering a good assortment of sixth and seventh-grade routes from 6b + to 7b+. Finally, and in the upper left, there is a small ledge from which the most difficult itineraries of the school depart, crossing an exceptional overhanging wall where the climbers with highest level may enjoy a large number of fabulous tufas. As if this was not enough, it also has two small sectors where you may find the perfect alternative to escape the hustle and bustle that is sometimes generated around the main wall.
The first routes of Garx date from 2012 and were bolted by Iván Hernández and Sonia Aroca. In 2014, the project of a documentary about climbing in Alicante leads Juan Fco. Ruiz “Tocayo”, Ángel Ayela, Salvador Pons and Iván and Sonia themselves there, and, although the documentary was never concluded, it resulted in the bolting of more than half of the main sector routes and got Garx into the wide map of the Alicante climbing. As of 2015, the trio formed by Jorge Murcia, David Álvarez and Vicente Gimeno “Pitu”, complete the above-mentioned main sector and develop the subsequent Pozo and Barranco sectors.
Access is sensitive!
ATTENTION: Remember that the parking area is at the end of the newly paved track, just before the concrete path that descends to the climbing area. There have already been some frictions with the owners of the agricultural land adjacent to the walls so, if we continue to lower the vehicles practically to the bottom of the routes, we run the risk that climbing will be prohibited in this wonderful place. It is only a 10 or 12 minute downhill approach and we are supposed to be athletes ... RESPECT PLEASE !!!

It is essential to respect the parking area, located just when the dirt road becomes a path made of concrete, in order allow the owners of the agricultural land to go through it. Remember that the width of this road only allows the passage of a single vehicle, and therefore, the likely event of the crossing between two cars in different directions would be impossible to be carried out. In the same way, it is essential to respect the terraces along the approach to the climbing walls. Please do not collect any fruit from the many trees seen in the path. It is recommended to avoid the presence of children in the Pozo (Well) sector since, as its name indicates, there is a well (NOT walled up) with the possibility of falling down in it.
How to get to the parking area:
From the south of the province: From the AP-7 take exit 65 N-332 Benidorm (Levante)/Callosa d’en Sarrià. After passing the tollbooth, take the first exit on the right towards CV-70 La Nucía/Callosa and follow the indications until arriving to Callosa d’en Sarrià. Once in the village, you will get at a roundabout where you will take the second exit towards C-3318 Bolulla/Tárbena. After the town of Tárbena, turn left towards CV-752 Castell de Castells. After 2.9 km, turn left towards “Can Sueño” and after 1.4 km, you will get to the parking lot.
From the north of the province: There are many possibilities depending on the starting point but, in any case, you have to get to the town of Parcent and from there, continue along the CV-715 direction Tárbena. After 12.9 km (you have to drive up the port of Coll de Rates) and just before reaching Tárbena, take a detour to the right towards CV-752 Castell de Castells from where you will follow the same indications as from the south of the province.
Approach:
From the parking spot, follow the descending concrete track until reaching some terraces from where you will see the walls on the left. The approach from this track is very short and obvious.
