Description

Fontaine Saint-Bernard is a easy 2-3 min approach crag that is well suitable for families and kids. The sector is situated on the flat forest bed with good paths and sparsely growing pinetrees here and there. The rocks are not super fast or slow drying. Some roofclimbs might not dry at all in the winter, so better to enjoy those only in the hot summerdays. Majority of the routes are under the shade of the trees.

Further sector Les Pentes du Marchais is combined on this page since the approach is the same and its only couple of routes that are very close to this sector. Les Pentes du Marchais blocks are situated in south side of the hill and dry quite fast. La Ruine dries really well and is situated a bit uphill so not stroller friendly, other easier lines are easily accessed with kids.

Fontaine Saint-Bernard / Les Pentes du Marchais

Climbing has been limited!

Fontainebleau closed until July 20
Due to fire risk and dry forest conditions, ONF has closed all of Fontainebleau to the public until Monday, July 20, 6:00 AM. Parking lots and access roads are barrier-taped to keep them clear for emergency services.
Please stay out until the closure lifts — check back here for updates.

Park same as for les Pentes du Marchais or Dame Jouanne. You can follow the sandy road for 70meters and turn left on the small uphill to access Lanceur d'Alerte. Other option on the parking lot is to go through the open gap in the fence on the green field just behind cars and follow the easy walk on a good path for 100 meters on a mellow uphill.
