Description

Adventurous Mountain bouldering and peaceful padding with unparalleled views of the Strath, plus one of the best stand-alone blocs in the Glen.

The Bean and the upper blocs lie above the tree line on the northern shoulder of Creag Dudh Flichity, overlooking the impressive baronial hunting lodge of Flichity House and its grounds that lie to the West.

Flichity tends to get a breeze and is Northwest facing, this adds up to being cooler in summer with less midge.

The Bean and upper blocs get the sun in the afternoon even on a winter’s day. The G is an absolute “Must Do”.

History

The name Flichity was recorded as Flechate in 1860 and comes from the Gaelic fluich, meaning wet. The blocs look down on Flichity House, a baronial hunting lodge refurbished in 1901 by William Beardmore, 1st Baron Invernairn of Strathnairn. Beardmore was an industrialist who sponsored one of Shackleton's early Antarctic expeditions, and the Beardmore Glacier is named after him. Most of the recorded climbing was developed in 2022 and 2023. The first ascensionists were Benjy Wilcock & Rob Thomas.
