Description

Cuvier Ouest resides just a stone's throw west from Bas Cuvier. The parking is the same.

While the Bas Cuvier is crowded, Cuvier Ouest will usually be quiet. There are a lot of interesting problems to be tried.

Some of them are:
Blue 49bis, 5, a super beautfilul, but relatively easy double arete.
Démoniaque, 7A, Nice overhang. Plain and simple.
Chauffe les Nerfs, 7B, A prime example of sloper climbing
R2-D2, 6B, Easy overhanging arete.
Fluide Magnétique, 7B. A classic from Philippe Le Denmat
La Mue, 7A-7C, Mantles for all sizes and shapes.
Evolution, 7A. A classic overhanging arete.

There's also a blue circuit (TD-), but it's pretty lichened and mossy on many parts. Needs a lot of brushing before it can be climbed.

There's also a LOT of potential for new problems. Check the new/unknown boulders!

Cuvier Ouest

Climbing has been limited!

Fontainebleau closed until July 20
Due to fire risk and dry forest conditions, ONF has closed all of Fontainebleau to the public until Monday, July 20, 6:00 AM. Parking lots and access roads are barrier-taped to keep them clear for emergency services.
Please stay out until the closure lifts — check back here for updates.

Biological Reserve! Avoid leaving the paths and keep your dog on a leash from April to July.

The sector is along D607. Park as Bas Cuvier.

As always, park reasonably. If the parking is full, consider other sectors (Apremont is pretty close).

Do not leave any valuables in the car and take good care of your belongings, there might be thieves especially on weekends.

Don't climb the problems when they are moist/wet. Sandstone is _really_ brittle when it's damp.

Walk west basically anywhere from the west side of Bas Cuvier. First path goes to the left just from parking. Then there's a path starting from Blue 4. Another path is behind Biceps Mou.

Approach is approx 1-2 minutes. And maybe 10 minutes to the other end of the sector. Introuvable is a bit farther away, but you should be able to find it with its GPS location with ease.
