Castel Madruzzo is the newest crag of the Cavedine valley, beautifully located in a nice area behind Madruzzo’s castle. The setting is highly rewarding, offering a nice landscape over the Cavedine valley.
The wall is mainly vertical, offering endurance climbing on crimpers and small tufas. The rock is amazing and quite different compared to the usual limestone found in Arco’s crags. There are 24 routes in total, ranging from 6a to 7c+, with fairly long lines that are all well bolted.
Among the most beautiful routes, you will definitely find "Brandeburgo" (the crag's warm-up route featuring an incredible rock at the start), "Toto", "Codice Brandis", the overhanging "Su per lì", and "Claudia", which is one of the most repeated routes in the Arco area.
The crag base is situated on a slope, but it is equipped with several small terraces that make it quite comfortable.
Given the beauty of this crag and its high popularity, expect to find many people during Easter weekends and the general high season.
The crag is generally south-facing, which might lead you to believe it is the perfect winter destination. This is only partially true: in winter, the sun arrives after 11:00 AM, and before that time, it can be quite cold. However, the mornings of the mid-seasons provide optimal and highly recommended climbing conditions.

For your rest days or post-climb activities, the Valle di Cavedine offers a wonderful mix of nature and history. Just a short drive away is Lake Lagolo, a peaceful alpine lake perfect for a refreshing summer swim, a relaxing walk among ancient beech trees, or a family picnic. You can also explore the historic hiking paths, like the Roggia di Calavino, or visit nearby vineyards and medieval villages scattered throughout the valley.

🇮🇹

History

All the development work was carried out by the Orbari company in 2017. The bolting project was sponsored by the municipality of Madruzzo and the community of Valle dei laghi. A fascinating historical detail is that the names of the routes are directly related to the history of Madruzzo, representing the surnames of its local inhabitants.
